  "Subject": "These data display areas in which NOAA Fisheries and the regional fishery management council has used the Essential Fish Habitat (EFH) provisions established in Section 303(a)(7) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act to prevent, mitigate, or minimize adverse effects from fishing on EFH.  The Pacific Fishery Management Council has designated and described EFH for over 100 managed west coast species including those that are highly migratory. \n\nNote: These areas do not necessarily represent areas in which NOAA Fisheries has prohibited fishing. Rather, they display areas where steps have been taken to minimize the impact that fisheries have on EFH. These steps may include anchoring restrictions, required fishing gear modifications, or prohibitions on certain types of gear, among others. This is not an exhaustive list of fishing restrictions that have been implemented by NOAA Fisheries. This dataset represents only those areas in which NOAA Fisheries has implemented the specific EFH provisions in Section 303(a)(7) of the Magnuson Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act.",
