Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: This layer depicts Oregon’s pink shrimp fishing effort expressed as sites of begin location of trawls from 1995 to 2020. The Oregon pink shrimp fleet fishes exclusively for pink shrimp (Pandalus jordani) using semi-pelagic trawl gear over sand and mud along the US West Coast (Bodega Bay, CA to Destruction Island, WA between approximately 40 and 140 fathoms. The layer was developed using the kernel density function in ArcGIS. Fishery logbook data are recorded on standardized data sheets by shrimpers during their fishing operations. The logbooks are later collected by ODFW for data entry and processing. Because the data are recorded by many independent sources, ODFW cannot guarantee the accuracy of all logbook data. This layer was developed for large-scale offshore wind energy development planning off of Oregon, and should be used for that purpose only. Use for offshore wind siting or other purposes would require additional analyses of the data. If the user intends to use the data for purposes other than large-scale offshore wind energy planning, please contact: ODFW Marine Resources Program, Scott Groth (Pink Shrimp Project Leader) Scott.D.Groth@odfw.oregon.gov.
