Description: This layer depicts total estimated recreational bottomfish angler-trips for the years 2015-2020 combined, based on data from the ODFW Ocean Recreational Boat Survey (ORBS). These estimates are for bottomfish trip-types only, and do not include estimates of angler-trips for other trip-types (e.g., salmon, halibut, tuna, or "combination" trips). Bottomfish trips typically target rockfish and lingcod, primarily over hard substrates. The ORBS interview records an angler's fishing locations as one of 48 "reef" locations along the Oregon coast, delineated to the north and south by lines of latitude, and either inside or outside of the 30-fathom line. The farthest west line in the map is the 100-fathom line, included for illustrative purposes but is not part of the defition of a "reef".1. ORBS interview data was used to generate where angler trips take place based on what “reef location” they were fishing in. 2. ORBS estimates were then used to expand the raw data above based on the boat counts and anglers per boat to best estimate the effort for that individual port.3. RecFIN estimates were then used to expand the estimates by ports into the minor ports that were not interviewed, or only interviewed seasonally4.
