Description: This layer depicts Pacific hagfish fishing effort expressed as pots set from 2011 to 2020. The Oregon hagfish fishery fishes for Pacific hagfish (Eptatretus stoutii) using pots, barrels, or buckets connected with lines over mud habitat along the Oregon coast in depths between approximately 75 - 110 fathoms.Fishery logbook data are recorded on standardized data sheets by fishermen during their fishing operations. The logbooks are later turned over to ODFW for data entry and processing. Because the data are recorded by many independent sources, ODFW cannot guarantee the accuracy of all logbook data.This layer was developed for large-scale offshore wind energy development planning off of Oregon, and should be used for that purpose only. Use for offshore wind siting or other purposes would require additional analyses of the data.
