Description: This dataset includes research transects off the coast of Oregon. Research transects are lines of research where data is continuously collected along the line. The most continuously sampled transect is the line used by the underwater gliders, which are autonomous underwater vehicles that collect continuous oceanographic data along a line. Currently, the gliders use the Newport Hydrographic Line to collect information. However, they are proposed for other areas in Oregon in the future as part of the Ocean Observatories Initiative, including a line parallel to the coast of Oregon at 126 degrees longitude in deep offshore waters. Other transects included in the inventory are cruises that make continuous observations of marine mammals and seabirds.
